We have just finished a superb week-long work experience with HS2 that included experiencing rail travel (some learners for the very first time) a tour of New Street Station, a visit to HS2 offices, and finding out about the huge range of jobs available. A number of their staff gave time to explain their jobs and the skills needed and they were fantastic with us. Our learners then collected data from their peers to create a presentation about how rail travel could be improved for Deaf people and be more inclusive. They came up with some great suggestions and innovative ideas!

Our learners also presented a session of Deaf awareness to 25 HS2 employees which included an introduction to BSL. It was great fun for all involved.

The project was a huge success and our learners were able to see how many companies like HS2 work to increase inclusion and diversity as well as experience rail travel and the many jobs related to it.

We are so proud of our learners and the many different skills they showed during the week. They are amazing young adults.
